This is a must do attraction in NYC. The preserved tenement houses have guides to walk you through the apartments and businesses of actual New York historic buildings. These are real Lower East Side immigrant stories and seeing them in person brings them to live. The guide is knowledgeable and great at answering any questions you may thing of.
This will give you and your date plenty to talk about as you learn how immigrants lived when the came searching for a better life. To hear their actual words and touch things they touched is inspiring.

The MET has thousands of beautiful artifacts and art to explore. You and your date can meander through the museum and talk about art and life as you get to know each other better.
If a museum sounds a bit too stuffy for your tastes try a themed trip to the MET. Make a small scavenger hunt of things to find or dress up in matching costumes. I’ll bet your date will appreciate the creativity and Halloween is right around the corner.
PRICE: Donation based (for NY residents) so pay what you wish. I like to put out a dollar bill and say, “two please”.
TIP: Make sure not to stay more than an hour or so. Explore and enjoy a few sections or pieces and then come back another day to explore some more. This will help keep the experience fresh and captivating. More MET info
The building alone is a work of art. Created in 1943 by architect Frank Lloyd Wright the Guggenheim is seen as his masterpiece. Inside is a world of art to explore. Don’t become overwhelmed. Take an hour or two and then leave for some ice cream or a walk through central park which is only 5 blocks away.
Saturdays from 5:00 – 7:45 p.m is pay what you wish. This is the day for the bargain hunters who still want to take their honey out on an art date.

One of NYCs hidden gems is the Cloisters. This beautiful museum is an extension of the MET dedicated to the art, architecture, and gardens of medieval Europe, and, like the MET, admission is donation based for NY residents. One dollar could get you admission for you and your date. Exploring the grounds is also a romantic idea. The Cloisters sits in Fort Tryon Park. Explore the old fortress or walk around in the curated gardens. This is a beautiful place to explore trails or sit and cuddle while looking out over the Hudson.
Deriving its name from the medieval cloisters that form the core of the building, it presents a harmonious and evocative setting for more than 2,000 exceptional artworks and architectural elements from the medieval West.
The Whitney’s permanent collection features only American Artists and the different seasonal exhibitions focus on unique and intriguing artists. This is an edgy home grown must see. Explore with your date and find pieces that speak to you. Then speak about them with your date!
