Mariebelle

Hot Chocolate Romance

Mariebelle 01
Mariebelle

Maribelle’s in SOHO is a romantic cozy European style chocolate house.  They sell high end chocolates and beautiful gift sets.  Don’t let this intimidate you.  Head to the back and ask for a table.  Order a hot chocolate and sip the decadence as you converse with your date.  The beautifully styled cafe will dazzle your eyes and the thick non-dairy hot chocolate will make your taste buds dance.

TIP: Try the spicy hot chocolate if you are adventurous, or I recommend the Aztec for a less daring palate.

Price: Around $10.00

have you MET?

Explore art hand in hand

Metropolitan Museum of Art 01
Metropolitan Museum of Art – Halloween trip to the MET

The MET has thousands of beautiful artifacts and art to explore.  You and your date can meander through the museum and talk about art and life as you get to know each other better.

If a museum sounds a bit too stuffy for your tastes try a themed trip to the MET.  Make a small scavenger hunt of things to find or dress up in matching costumes.  I’ll bet your date will appreciate the creativity and Halloween is right around the corner.

PRICE:  Donation based (for NY residents) so pay what you wish.  I like to put out a dollar bill and say, “two please”.

TIP: Make sure not to stay more than an hour or so. Explore and enjoy a few sections or pieces and then come back another day to explore some more.  This will help keep the experience fresh and captivating.  More MET info

Cloisters

Medieval castle with beautiful gardens

Cloisters 01
Cloisters – cloister? But I don’t even know her

One of NYCs hidden gems is the Cloisters.  This beautiful museum is an extension of the MET dedicated to the art, architecture, and gardens of medieval Europe, and, like the MET, admission is donation based for NY residents.  One dollar could get you admission for you and your date.  Exploring the grounds is also a romantic idea.  The Cloisters sits in Fort Tryon Park.  Explore the old fortress or walk around in the curated gardens.  This is a beautiful place to explore trails or sit and cuddle while looking out over the Hudson.

Deriving its name from the medieval cloisters that form the core of the building, it presents a harmonious and evocative setting for more than 2,000 exceptional artworks and architectural elements from the medieval West.
